Beta Chapter was the second chapter organized after Alpha Zeta State was divided into three chapters at the State Convention in New Brunswick, May 15, 1947.  Beta was especially fortunate in having three State Founders and two state presidents among its members.  A. Virginia Adams, State Founder, was State President at the time of the division, and Elizabeth Bozearth, State Founder, was the first President of Alpha Zeta State.  Completing this dynamic trio was Ora Lee Everts, State Founder.  They served Beta Chapter actively for a total of seventy-six years, sharing their expertise and knowledge with each new group of initiates.

Beta Chapter was the first chapter in Alpha Zeta State to sponsor a new chapter.  On September 26, 1958, the chapter voted to establish a chapter in Cape May County.  Five members who lived in southern Beta district volunteered to be transfers.

In 1960-62,  Beta was again involved in expansion in the formation of Eta Chapter in the area south of Trenton to Levittown.  Mildred Mehrer, Expansion chairman, presented the twenty-one prospective members at the tea at the home of Edith Shrader in Blackwood on January 21, 1962.  At the convention breakfast on April 8, 1962, the first officers of Eta Chapter were installed.

The third chapter sponsored and organized by Beta Chapter was Iota, to be located in Camden County in all the areas north of County Route 554. Eventually, 16 Beta members transferred to Iota.  In 1975, Beta ceded to Iota the remaining portion of Camden County for membership expansion.

In 1983, a group of Beta members from Gloucester County formed a new chapter that became Pi.  Beta and Pi then shared Gloucester County.

Beta continues to grow and expand.  As of December 2017, we have 55 members (active and reserve).
