OVERVIEW
Beta’s Strategic Action Plan embraces women educators on every level of the Society’s purposes. We recognize the need to support our sisters individually on a personal and professional level; to develop fellowship between both active and reserved members; to impact a variety of geographical communities both here and abroad; and to strengthen Beta chapter by increasing the involvement of all members.
The plan will direct us towards the goals that will improve our organization and forever move Beta forward. Members will find this plan offers goals, initiatives, objectives and activities to guide our work.

The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International promotes professional and personal growth of women educators and excellence in education.

Plan Implementation and Monitoring
The implementation of the Plan is the responsibility of Beta Executive Board members. This living document will be reviewed annually and adjustments made, as needed, by the Beta Executive Committee in conjunction with the Beta Strategic Planning Committee. The Beta Strategic Planning Committee will note progress, review new opportunities and discuss challenges. The Beta Strategic Planning Committee will note accomplishments related to the initiatives and objectives for each goal. The latest review and revision date will be noted on the updated Strategic Plan and then posted on the Beta website.
Structure of the Beta Strategic Plan
The language of the Strategic Plan represents a hierarchy from broad to specific:
This goal will focus on supporting the personal and professional development of women educators. It should include providing opportunities throughout the entire career of our members, including leadership skills, financial assistance, providing current educational strategies and methods, provide formats for publications, and network opportunities with Beta members.
1.A. Create new membership opportunities
1.A.1. Research membership trends
1.A.1 a. Engage members in conversations about generational issues that impact membership
1.A.1.b. Use Society resources to determine and plan for intergenerational cooperation.
1.A.1.c. Incorporate appropriate strategies to engage all members-encourage every member to have a chapter responsibility
(committee participation, chapter job)
1.A.2. Direct members to leadership connections
1.A.2.a. Take advantage of webinars and/or workshop presentations on current Society and professional issues provided by
members knowledgeable in the field/areas
1.A.2.b. Provide information on professional group web forums for issues of interest
1.A.2.c. Investigate and distribute information on a variety of online and in person professional forums for alike educational areas
1.B. Enhance existing membership opportunities
1.B.1. Promote the mentoring of new educators through the Supporting Early-career Educators Project (SEE)
1.B.1.a. Share materials to explain the AZS Organization and how it relates to DKG: graphics, presentations, handouts
1.B.2. Provide mentoring of new members
1.B.2.a. Make new members aware of online community for discussions on DKG website
1.B.2.b. Encourage senior members to partner with new members, creating a connection to foster growth in DKG
1.C. Increase membership awareness
1.C.1. Define roles and responsibilities of members
1.C.1.a. Review governing documents
1.C.2. Promote the use of the AZS resources available to members
1.C.2.a. Publicize messages through media venues: website, social media, state publications
1.C.2.b. Provide opportunities for members to discuss membership issues at chapter meetings
GOAL 2. Develop Leaders
Our DKG Vision Statement, “Leading Women Educators Impacting Education Worldwide,” must be continued throughout the Society. We must continue to develop leadership skills in all members throughout our chapter and within educational and organizational settings.
2.A.Seize leadership opportunities and training for all members
2.A.1. Promote participation in leadership training through a variety of media
2.A.1.a. Investigate DKG International website for webinars
2.A.2. Offer mentoring opportunities
2.A.2.a. Direct leaders to use Society websites and make personal contact with current/previous leaders to learn more about
their role in the society.
2.A.2.b. Assign potential officers to current office holders, a “buddy” system
2.B. Enhance leadership excellence among members
2.B.1. Empower members to take leadership roles
2.B.1.a. Recruit new members to become part of the chapter leadership team.
2.B.1.b. Provide a variety of situations for members to volunteer for tasks, ad hoc committees, etc.
GOAL 3: Stimulate Chapter Vitality and Sustainability
Keeping in mind that our sixth Society Purpose is “To stimulate the personal and professional growth of members and to encourage their participation in appropriate programs of action” we must provide opportunities to fulfill this purpose. The fourth goal will address opportunities to build and renew human resources that will strengthen our chapter.
3.A. Create new resources
3.A.1. Develop resources that support the growth of chapter membership
3.A.1.a. Use list of local teachers of the year as a resource to pursue new members
3.A.1.b. Collaborate with local school districts to address underrepresented areas
3.A.1.c. Contact former members for possible reinstatement once per biennium
3.A.2. Expand resources for members
3.A.2.a. Provide regular communication to all members
3.A.2.b. Investigate and promote new technologies
3.A.2.c. Enhance opportunities to assist members with their classroom responsibilities
3.B. Enhance existing resources
3.B.1. Recognize member accomplishments
3.B.1.a. Acknowledge personal and professional events
3.B.1.b. Update biographical information of every member
3.B.2. Update current resources for members
3.B.2.a. Annually review programs for membership needs
3.B.2.b. Provide current list of state and international publications

PURPOSES
- To unite women educators of the world in a genuine spiritual fellowship.
- To honor women who have given or who evidence a potential for distinctive service in any field of education.
- To advance the professional interest and position of women in education.
- To initiate, endorse and support desirable legislation or other suitable endeavors in the interests of education and of women educators.
- To endow scholarships to aid outstanding women educators in pursuing graduate study and to grant fellowships to non-member women educators.
- To stimulate the personal and professional growth of members and to encourage their participation in appropriate programs of action.
- To inform the members of current economic, social, political and educational issues so that they may participate effectively in a world society.

Accomplished Activities from the 2016-2018 Beta Chapter
Strategic Action Plan
- Assigned members to committees, with most members having a responsibility of at least one job.
- Continued outreach programs with donations to Woodbury and Woodstown food pantries.
- Acknowledged accomplishments of members in newsletters and at chapter meetings.
- Recognized chapter member milestones with certificate at chapter meeting.
- Continued M.A.R.V.E.L. luncheon for those unable to attend nightly meetings.
- Provided grant-in-aid to Rowan student.
- Participated in joint chapter meeting with Eta, Iota, Nu, and Sigma.
- Created a photo directory of all members, including Legacy sisters and biographical information.
- Maintained Beta website, sharing chapter projects and programs and newsletters.
